As many of you have heard, South Carolina experienced extremely heavy rains last weekend. We are so appreciative of the inquiries and offers of support from our friends, family, colleagues, and clients.
While we at MiraVista were exceptionally fortunate to avoid any serious property damage, parts of Columbia endured significant property loss, power outages, and clean water shortages. One never appreciates the number of low-lying roadways adjacent to bodies of water until rainfall is measured by feet instead of inches.
On Sunday and Monday, significantly all MiraVista employees in the Columbia office were confined to their homes due to road closures and mandatory curfews. While some of our employees do not have running water restored at home and our area remains under a boil water advisory as damage is repaired, these are inconveniences compared to the many families and businesses that are suffering true devastation.
Our disaster contingency plans were activated, and we were able to minimize downtime. Our other offices remained fully operational. Of this fact, we are very proud and humbled.
Ultimately, our families are safe, and we are, for the most part, getting back to business as usual, while infrastructure is repaired and services are restored. Thank you again for your inquiries and well wishes.
