The 21st Century Cures Act was signed into law on December 13, 2016 and, when implemented, DME suppliers will receive a retroactive rollback of Medicare reimbursement cuts. This limited reprieve will impact claims with service dates between July 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016.
MiraVista has learned that CMS is working closely behind the scenes with the DME MACs on formal instructions. Once the official instructions have been published, we anticipate that automated claims reprocessing will occur shortly thereafter. CMS is likely to hold an Open Door Forum to further communicate provision details. DME-specific updates for the Cures Act can be found on the DME Center page of the CMS website. MiraVista will continue to monitor developments on the Cures Act closely and will issue further communications as updates develop.
To help suppliers get a full understanding of how much money will be coming through and how to prepare for the wash of activity attributable to the Cures Act reprocessing initiative, MiraVista will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, February 16 titled “Give it to me straight, Doc: What Suppliers Need to Know about the Cures Act.” We hope you’ll join us.
