It’s official. Round 2021 is on, and the CBIC recently posted the following details regarding the competition timeline:
CMS has not, however, finalized dates for several major events within the bid competition:

Historically speaking, CMS typically takes a year after the bid window closes to announce Single Payment Amounts (SPAs) and begin the contracting process. If we had to guess based on the timelines for previous rounds of competition … and we do … we think the upcoming schedule will look something like this:
*Indicates estimated timeline. CMS has yet to officially announce concrete dates. So seriously, guys, this is structured guessing. Use it accordingly.
Optimistically, CMS will announce a complete timeline in mid-May. In the meantime, we hope our forecasted schedule helps you get a head start on preparing to participate (or not) in the next round.

- March 7, 2019 – CMS begins pre-bidding supplier awareness.
- May 2019 – CMS will announce dates for registration and bidding and will launch its bidder education program.
- June 2019 – Bidder registration begins (to secure user IDs and passwords for the DMEPOS Bid System) and CMS opens the bid window.
- January 1, 2021 – Implementation of Round 2021.
