See what we did there? We started out with a seemingly absurd statement in the context of what everyone else says, then got completely nuts suggesting you will achieve your desired results if you buck the conventional wisdom.
There is a logical flaw in the conventional wisdom. Hiring more people costs money, so the only sure outcome of doing so is decreased cash flow.
“Yeah, sure,” you say. “But more people will help us get more done. We will increase cash flows more than we will decrease them.”
And the last time that worked out for you was….when?
You take your top performers offline to train the new people. At least some of that investment will be lost if those new people are not all-stars or loyal to your company until death, and worst of all, you will probably teach them to do the wrong things anyway.
“Well, then maybe we should just give up and outsource?”
That, too, seems reasonable on the surface. But here it is…outsource billing firms have the same problems you do, they just don’t know your patients, physicians, and regional payers as well as you do. Yeah, that will probably work out…
